Wedding card printing: sizes, card, wording and timeline
How to plan wedding card printing: common sizes, textured and pearl card, inserts for each function, wording tips and how early to order.
A wedding card is the first thing your guests see of the wedding. Getting it right means choosing the size and card early, checking every name and date, and leaving enough time for printing and delivery.
Common sizes
| Size | Inches | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Large | 7 × 10 | A main card with inserts for each function |
| Compact | 6 × 8 | A single card, or a smaller set |
Which card to choose
- Textured card feels handmade and suits traditional designs.
- Pearl card has a soft shine that suits gold and pastel colours.
- Art card (300 or 350 GSM) prints photos and bright colours sharply.
Inserts for each function
Many families print one main card and a separate insert for each function: haldi, mehendi, sangeet, the wedding and the reception. Guests get only the inserts for the functions they are invited to.
Wording checklist
- Names spelt the way the families want them, including titles.
- Date, day and time for each function, with the venue and a landmark.
- An RSVP name and phone number.
- If the card is bilingual, have someone who reads both languages check it.
How early to order
Plan to approve the proof at least three to four weeks before posting. Production takes about 7 days after approval, and you will want time to fill and post or hand out the cards.
