Letterhead design: size, paper and what to put on it

A professional letterhead in India: A4 size, 90 to 100 GSM paper, what details to include (GSTIN, address, contacts) and design tips that work in office printers.

A letterhead is often the first formal thing a client or a government office receives from your business. It should look professional and, just as important, run smoothly through any office printer.

Size and paper

Use A4. Ours is 8.5 × 11 in, cut from 23 × 36 in paper. Choose 90 to 100 GSM paper: thick enough to feel good, thin enough for laser and inkjet printers. Our standard letterhead is A4 on 90 or 100 GSM Super Sunshine paper: ₹1.35 per letterhead + GST (90 GSM) at the MOQ of 2,000, and less per piece for larger runs.

What to include

  • Business name and logo
  • Full address with PIN code
  • Phone numbers and email
  • Website
  • GSTIN, if you are registered (useful on quotations and letters)
  • CIN or registration number for companies, if applicable

Design tips

  • Keep the top band within about 40 mm so there is room to write.
  • Put contact details in the footer to free up the top.
  • Leave at least 15 mm margins: office printers cannot print to the edge.
  • Use your brand colours and the same fonts as your visiting cards.
  • Print a test page in your office printer before approving the proof.

Pick a letterhead design, add your details and see it instantly. Matching envelopes complete the set.
